Sharon Wilkins is an African-American actress.

Wilkins hails from Newburgh, New York and makes her home on the Upper Westside of Manhattan. She has had a number of roles on Broadway and in film and does some commercial work. She has appeared in three broadway musicals, first The Life in 1997, followed by Seussical in 2000 and All Shook Up in 2005. Since 2005 she has been focusing mostly on television and film work appearing in such shows as Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, 30 Rock and Rescue Me and such films as National Treasure (2004) and We Own the Night (2007) Wilkins oeuvre consists of many roles considered by African-Americans to be along the lines of Hattie McDaniels' role in "Gone With the End" and many of the roles defined by Daniels during her career. Wilkins plays mostly Mammy roles, and has been typecast in those roles. She had gastric bypass surgery to try and break out of the typecasting, but it has been to no avail as there are numerous references to her unattractiveness, pronounced forehead and general unattractiveness. She is ugly.

Credits for her in movies often refer to her as "Fat Black Woman." Her roles are generally caricutured and steretypical.

She is active in Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and was a singer along with a number of others at Star Jones' wedding to Al Reynolds in spite of the fact that she dislikes Jones. Personal: Has a penchant for men who are unable to read or write.==External links==
