[edit] Personality

Sharon is a kind, passionate woman who really cares about the people on her team. She is deskbound, in contrast to the male team members, but she is eager to participate more actively. Her intelligence and knowledge are not inconsiderable, and she is also brave. This was shown in the first episode, where she went in undercover and was captured by criminals. A devout Catholic, she nevertheless shows a wild side later in the series. [2]

She is referred to as an 'lobotomised Essex girl' by Gene Hunt in "The Happy Day". In "The Missing Link", it is revealed that her father is a staunch trade unionist, and possibly a socialist. Sharon looks up to Alex Drake and attempts to learn from her modern policing methods as well as her position as a strong woman.

[edit] Stabbing

Sharon was stabbed while trying to apprehend a suspect who happened to be holding a pen knife when she attempted to arrest him, accidentally falling onto the knife when she knocked him over. She briefly died, having seen Alex Drake's vision of "the clown" coming towards her as Alex attempted to save her life, shouting "Tell it to go away! I don't like clowns!". Due to Alex's efforts with CPR, Sharon regained consciousness. Whilst DI Drake was attempting to revive Sharon, and in the grip of emotional trauma, Chris Skelton, her partner, assaulted the perpetrator along with DS Ray Carling and DCI Gene Hunt while in police custody, despite Sergeant Viv James's efforts to reason with them. In the final episode of the series she is seen to be in a coma, but returns from the hospital as the episode closes, calling DI Drake her "guardian angel".

[edit] Relationships

Sharon has an "on-off" relationship with Chris Skelton, a junior member of Gene Hunt's team.[2]. She is also close to Alex who tells Shaz that she was her favorite construct.
