Shapley Ridge

Shapley Ridge (86°18′S, 129°10′W) is a prominent ridge overlooking Reedy Glacier; it extends east from Cleveland Mesa and marks the east extremity of the Watson Escarpment. Mapped by United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1960-64. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Alan H. Shapley, Vice-Chairman of the U.S. National Committee for the IGY.
