Shaolin Rescuers aka “Avenging Warriors of Shaolin” is a Shaw Brothers film directed by Chang Cheh. It is one of the Shoalin Temple themed martial arts films and the adventures of the Shaolin hero Hung Si-Kuan starring the Venoms and Jason Pai Piao

The film opens with Hung Si-Kuan (Jason Pai Piao) in a fight with and barely escaping Priest Pai Mei (Wang Li) and Kua Ching (Lu Feng). Chun Ah-Chin (Lo Mang) is a local bean curd maker who uses the mantis style and likes to spar with his friend Ying Cha-Po (Kuo Chui), a waiter who can use anything as a weapon, particularly a bowl and a pair of hashi. Chu Tsai (Sun Chien) is a light skill student at a local school who is constantly abused by his master and a fellow student (Ku Kuan Chung), he ends up befriending Ah-Chun and Cha-Po after they save him from getting beat on by his fellow students. Pai Mei, Kua Ching and his fighting men arrive at a temple looking for the injured Hung Si-Kuan and end up in a fight with the monks and Han Chi (Chiang Sheng). Han Chi escapes but the monks are killed, Chi goes looking for Hung Si-Kuan who arrives at the school as Chu Tsai master is an old comrade. The teacher rejects Hung’s offer for help and immediately reports to Pai Mei. Chu, Ah-Chun and Cha-Po spar with each other until the injured Hung Si-Kuan ends up crossing paths with them and they conjure up schemes to get him medicine which sparks the curiosity of Chu’s teacher, Pai Mei and Kua Ching. The now healed Hung Si-Kuan thanks the 3 by teaching them special techniques to perfect their skills, Han Chi meets also meets up with the 4 after helping them in a fight at Ying Cha-Po’s restaurant. Kua Ching finds out about Hung Si-Kuan’s hiding place and raids it but Hung and company escape and hide in an old temple. Kua and his fighters along with Ku Kuan Chung attempt to apprehend Hung Si-Kuan et. al but Kuan Chung is killed after he attempts to jump over the wall to get them forcing Kua to wait till the morning before attacking as its dark and they don’t have the advantage. Morning arrives and Kua Ching attacks, and all out venom style battle occurs until Ku and his fighters are killed and Hung Si-Kuan and Han Chi escape.
