Shannon Brown (born November 29, 1985, in Maywood, Illinois) is an American professional basketball player currently playing for the NBA's Chicago Bulls.

Brown attended Proviso East High School in Maywood, where his teammates included fellow 2006 draftee Dee Brown (no relation). In 2003, Shannon Brown was named Illinois Mr. Basketball and a McDonald's All-American.

Brown played college basketball for the Michigan State Spartans. He was second-team All-Big Ten as a junior and was an All-Big Ten Defensive selection.

Brown was drafted in the first round with the 25th overall pick of the 2006 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

[edit] 2006-2007

Appearing in only 23 games of his debut season, Brown showed promise, scoring in double figures twice (10 pts vs. New York on 11/29 and 14 pts vs. Toronto on 3/3), but was hampered by an injury to his shin. Brown started five games for the Cavaliers in his rookie season.

Brown was assigned to the NBA Development League's Albuquerque Thunderbirds on March 2, 2007 but was recalled by the Cleveland Cavaliers only a day later. In his sole game as a Thunderbird, Brown scored 14 points with four rebounds and six assists.

Through the All-Star Break, Brown has played in only 15 games during the 2007-08 season (starting four games) averaging 7.0 points per game. Brown set a career high with 20 points against the New Jersey Nets on December 4, 2007.

Brown was assigned to the NBA Development League's Rio Grande Valley Vipers on January 11, 2008. In four games as a Viper, Brown averaged 23.5 points, including a 37 point performance against the Dakota Wizards. Brown was recalled by the Cleveland Cavaliers on January 17, 2008. On February 21, 2008, Shannon Brown was traded to the Chicago Bulls as part of a 3-team blockbuster deal.
