Shankhanagar is a census town in Hugli district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is under Mogra police station in Chinsurah Subdivision. [1]

As of 2001 India census[2], Shankhanagar had a population of 6894. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Shankhanagar has an average literacy rate of 59%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 66%, and female literacy is 51%.
