The Fine Arts College of Shanghai University is the only professional art college in Shanghai that covers multiple disciplines of fine arts.
The multi-storied building of Fine arts college is located in Shanghai University Baoshan Campus. The students enjoy the most advanced and convenient dormitories, beautiful campus environment and modern teaching and researching facilities.
The college consists of six departments: Art Design, Traditional Chinese Painting, Oil Painting, Sculpture, Art History, and Architectural Design. These departments offer over 200 courses in Graphic Design, Environmental Design, Industrial Design]], Advertising, Traditional Chinese Painting, Oil Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking and other fields. The college offers courses on both undergraduate and graduate level, to both domestic students and students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and other countries of the world. The College of fine art has an enrollment of 1800.
The Fine Arts College has 149 faculty and staff, among them there are 45 professors and associate professors. Many of them are excellent artists and designers who are well known both nationally and internationally. A number of outstanding artists and designers, both from home and abroad, have been hired as part-time faculty or visiting scholars. Our college also has three research institutes - the Library & Research Center, the Institute of Art Design and the Center of Public Arts. The Institute of Art Design includes an exhibition center, Cai Guanshen International Arts Exchange Center, the Arts Collection Center and the Folk Arts Research Center. The Center of Public Art includes Ceramic Studio, Glass Studio, Multimedia Studio and Printmaking Studio. State-of-the-art facilities and the most technology-advanced equipments or facilities are available to students and faculty.
The faculty and students have reaped harvest in teaching, creating and designing. Abundance art works have won awards at major arts exhibitions both from home and abroad and collected by domestic and foreign museums or galleries. A number of these outstanding works are displayed in well-known public places such as the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Shanghai Municipal Layout Institute, The Bund of Shanghai, the metro stations, the Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Educational Base for the Youth and so on.
The college has established friendly relationships with other Art Colleges in Japan, U.S.A., Britain and France, which offers exchange programs to our students.
The college are dedicated to educate the students to be creative in art and also to be skillful in mastering modern techniques in contemporary art design.
