Shane O'Mara is an American rower.
He began rowing at Tampa Catholic in 1997, captaining for three years. He gained recognition as an elite junior sculler and eventually became a three time national team member. Holding all national titles in the single sculls and obtaining all US junior records in the single. After rowing under Bob Reinhardt, US Junior National Team Coach, Shane signed with Northeastern University in the fall of 2002. He made his first senior team in 2005 and returned in 2006 and 2007 for the double and quad. In 2008 he was selected to row as the stroke of the Cambridge University Boat in the prestigious University Boat Race. However, an illness a few days before the race prevented him from competing.
