Shane Warren Kippel (born June 4, 1986) is a Canadian television actor. As of 2001, he appears as a regular cast member in the part of Gavin "Spinner" Mason on Degrassi: The Next Generation, which is broadcast on CTV in Canada, ABC in Australia, and The N in the United States. He starred as Chad the Jock in the 2003 film Todd and the Book of Pure Evil, which was tagged as "A teenager's guide to heavy metal, cheerleaders, true love, and Satan". He also has a recurring role on Life with Derek as the I-Wanna-Rock drummer Ralphie in the band "D-Rock".
Kippel was born in Toronto, Ontario. Like fellow Degrassi cast members Jake Goldsbie, Jake Epstein, Aubrey Graham, Sarah Barrable-Tishauer, Lauren Collins and Stacey Farber, he is Jewish,[1] and has a brother who lives in Israel.[2]. In 2007, he attended York University in Toronto, studying psychology, but has since decided to put school on hold to continue his acting career.
