Keough is the oldest child of Matt Keough, a former pitcher for the Oakland A's and current executive with the team and Jeana Keough, a former model, actress and Playboy Playmate who is now a realtor for RE/MAX in Coto de Caza, California. He has a younger sister Kara and one younger brother Colton.
[edit] Career
Keough entered the Major League Baseball Draft in 2005 and was drafted by the Oakland A's in the 36th round as a draft-and-follow[1][2] pick. According to Jeana Keough, roughly 1000 people were picked before him and he subsequently attended Yavapai College[3] in Arizona to gain more playing time and hopefully attract more attention from the scouts. He was signed by the A's in June, 2006. In the fall of 2006, he played outfield for the Phoenix Athletics in the Arizona League, which is classified as a rookie league or the lowest level of minor league baseball. Keough played for the Vancouver Canadians Single A Short Season Baseball team as an outfielder in 2007.
Besides Shane's father, his grandfather Marty and great-uncle Joe have both played in the major leagues.
