Shane Doyle is a fictional character in Emmerdale and is portrayed by Paul McEwan.
[edit] Character's background
He was first seen checking out the Dingle family after Zak, Shadrach and Eli Dingle were under suspicion for pretending to be police officers and scam people by making them pay on the spot fines for speeding. PC Doyle visited Wishing Well Cottage, but knowing he wouldn't find any evidence he just let them know that he was watching them.
After Donna Windsor-Dingle was promoted on the police force, Shane decided that she was the new recruit that he would start make fun of. Donna is on to him but Doyle doesn't seem fazed.
Doyle has never hidden his distain for the Dingle's and doesn't trust Donna since she related to them. It was also revealed that Doyle has been passed over on making sergeant a couple of times, which doesn't help his mood.
He took great delight in arresting Sam Dingle after he went on the run. But when Sam was released without charge Doyle was furious and blamed Donna. His outburst was witnessed by Chief of Police Charles Vaughan. Vaughan reminded Doyle that he needed to be an example to Donna as she was just starting.
ITV revealed that Shane has a shocking storyline coming up involving Donna.[1]
