Shane (John) O'Neill

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Shane (John / João) O'Neill (Tyrone, Kilmore, ca 1720 –), was the head of the Clanaboy O'Neill dynasty, whose family has been in Portugal since the 18th century, being the first to come to Portugal, settling in Setúbal, where he married. He was officially recognized by the offices of arms throughout Europe as titular Prince and Count of Clanaboy, but he refused to use this title, using instead the style O'Neill of Clannaboy.

He was an important Proprietor at the Council of Almada.

He was the first born son of the previous head Conn (Constantine) O'Neill and wife Cecilia O'Hanlon.
