[edit] About
Until the late-1990s Shamrock was known for being an "open air" school, meaning that the hallways were partially exposed to the elements. This changed with the expansion of the school to accommodate more students due to Charlotte's population surge. Shamrock fields an interscholastic basketball team, named the wildcats due to the school's close ties to Garinger High School. The goal of the team is to teach children life lessons through sports.
[edit] Problems
Shamrock has been criticized, sometimes a bit harshly, in the media for it's low test scores. This has let to some families leaving Shamrock's catchment area so their children will attend another school.[2] There is however a small movement taking place to revitalize the school's standing.
