Shamit Tyagi gandu was one of the finalists of Fame Gurukul, one of the most watched Indian reality television shows. He was chosen from among thousands of Indians who auditioned.

Before entering Fame Gurukul, Shamit Tyagi was very confused about his career. He was working at a call centre and he wasn't sure about making a career in the music industry. After staying in the Gurukul, Shamit became a lot more focused about music. All his efforts towards music were being properly utilized. Fame Gurukul made him a star worldwide. He feels he's become more responsible and his fans have lots of expectations from him. Shamit got to meet well-known music directors whom he had only dreamed of meeting. Today Shamit is financially stable and is satisfied with life. Shamit was the highly popular and controversial contestant who faced the eye of storm with the jury on several occasions.

Despite doing several jobs including at a call center, he kept alive his interest in singing. Has trained in classical singing and is also drawn towards Buddhist chants.

Shamit Tyagi is from Goregaon (a Mumbai suburb). He is twenty five. He did his graduation from Delhi's Kirodimal College. Shamit Tyagi came to Mumbai almost three years back to pursue a career in music. He came to know about Fame Gurukul through ads on television, and went through four auditions to make it to the final 14.

To qualify, he sang Upar Khuda from Kachche Dhaage, Jeene Ke Hai Char Din and Tum Jo Mil Gaye Ho.

He did come to Mumbai for music but had certain responsibilities towards his mother and grandfather , so he joined a call center. He started earning well, became a team manager, and everybody forgot his music career, but he made a decision and quit his job two and a half months back for pursuing his dream of a singing career.

When Shamit Tyagi was one year old, his father died. He had one brother and one sister. Shamit Tyagi's sister is married and younger brother died some years back. Shamit Tyagi is the only earning member in the family, trying hard to make it big.

In Fame Gurukul, Shamit Tyagi made it to the Top Five contestants, but when some new contestants were brought in and some voted out contestants brought back, he was voted out and could not reach the Top Seven. Later on, he participated in Dus ke Dus Legaye Dil, and was the first runner-up.

He is an exterimely simple & down o earth decent man whit an optimistic attitude rowards life.His favouriate colours are blue,Black & red. Shamit Tyagi, Arijit Singh and Mona Bhatt are now recording an album with TIPS.
