Shamil Askerov (Azerbaijani: Şamil Əsgərov) (1928, near Kalbajar – 20 May 2005, Baku) was a Kurdish scholar, poet and researcher on the history of Kurds. Shamil Askerov was born in the Agjakand village, in the Kalbajar district of Azerbaijan and died in Baku in 2005.
