Shakardara District

Shakardara District is situated in the central part of the Kabul Province in Afghanistan. It has a population of 63,000 people, with another 10,000 expected to return from abroad (2002 official UNHCR est.). Majority of the people are ethnic Tajiks.[1]

Shakardara district borders with Parvan Province to the west, Guldara District to the north, Mir Bacha Kot, Deh Sabz and Kabul districts to the east, and Paghman District to the south. Its headquarter is the village of Shakar Dara, which is located in the central part of the district. The agriculture is the main source of income.
