Shajapur is a town in Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh state in west-central India. It is the administrative headquarters of Shajapur District. it is a is a city and a municipality.

Places of interest in the city include the Raj-Rajeshwari Temple estimated build in 1007-1009 by Raja Bhoj is one of the 52 SHAKTI PEEDS and Cheelar Dam, Karedi mata temple estimated 5000-7000 years old.

Shajapur is named for the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, who halted there in 1640; it was previously known as Kankdikheda. The original name was Shahjahanpur, which was later shortened to Shajapur. In the 18th century the town became part of the dominion of the Maratha leader Sindhia, founder of the state of Gwalior, and was the headquarters of a district of Gwalior state until Indian independence in 1947. After Independence, Shajapur and its district became part of Madhya Bharat state, which was merged into Madhya Pradesh on November 1, 1956.all persons are in the shajapur have good persons

As of 2001 India census[2], Shajapur had a population of 50,086. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Shajapur has an average literacy rate of 70%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 77%, and female literacy is 63%. In Shajapur, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.
