Shahrasti is located at 23.2222° N 90.9500° E . It has 31212 units of house hold and total area 154.31 km².

As of 1991 Bangladesh census^[1], Shahrasti has a population of 180643. Males constitute are 48.59% of the population, and females 51.41%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 84718. Shahrasti has an average literacy rate of 43% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. ^[2]
