Shahid Hasan Siddiqui

Dr. Shahid Hasan Siddiqui is a banker of International repute and an eminent economist from Pakistan. Currently, he is Chairman & Chief Executive of the Research Institute of Islamic Banking & Finance, Karachi. He is Fellow, Institute of Bankers, Pakistan and Institute of Islamic Banking & Insurance, London.

Born in Meerut-U.P., India on July 2, 1943 and got early education in India. He migrated to Pakistan along with parents in 1952 and settled in Karachi & continued education. He holds a degree in Law and Ph.D., in Business Administration. His areas of interest include research in Islamic Banking & Finance and impact of the Conditionalities of International Financial Institutions on the economies of third world countries with special reference to Pakistan.

Dr. Siddiqui is also a member, Research Advisory Council, College of Business Management Karachi, member, International Advisory Board, Pakistan Business Review, member, International Advisory Board, Market Forces,-A Journal of Management, Informatics, and Technology, PAF-KIET Karachi, member, SZABIST Economics Advisory Committee and member, Editorial Board, Journal of The Institute of Bankers, Pakistan. He is also a member, Shariah Supervisory Committee, Bank of Khyber.

Dr. Shahid Siddiqui, for over three decades, has held senior management positions in banks in Pakistan, Europe, Africa and Middle East. He has presented dozens of papers covering various issues of banking, finance and economy including Islamic Banking & Finance in conferences and seminars in Pakistan and abroad in addition to contributing over three hundred articles on these subjects in International and Pakistani Journals and news papers including professional Journals.

Dr. Shahid Siddiqui’s book, Islamic Banking, is regarded as a pioneering contribution in the field.
