Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and Health Services is a large medical school in northern Tehran, Iran.
The school was founded in 1960 as part of Shahid Beheshti University, and was re-structured in 1986 when it separated off onto its own. In 2007, the two universities signed an agreement to be cited by ISI uniformly as Shahid Beheshti University. Shahid Beheshti University, M.C. refers to Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and Health Services.[1]
Apart from its teaching and research commitments, the university is also responsible for health care provision to a community of four million people living in northern and northeastern Tehran and the neighbouring cities of Damavand , Firouzkooh, Varamin and Pakdasht.
The school has a national and international reputation for excellence in postgraduate teaching and research in clinical sciences and practices. It consists of 8 Faculties, 12 Teaching Hospitals, 6 Non-teaching Hospitals, and 7 District Health Centers.
Currently, 13000 students study there in various fields.
