Shahad is a town in Thāne district in Maharashtra state in India. It is located 60 km from Mumbai.
The term "Shahad" is derived from Urdu word "Shah Had" "Shah" related to Mughals and "Had" means Border, it means Border of Shah's. Kalyan was developed under Mughal empire. In Kalyan you can find mosoleum of many caretakers of Kalyan deployed by Mughals .
Shahad is home to large industrial complexes, such as the one owned by Century Rayon which was built by the Birla family. This area typically classified as a "developing area." Shahad is located close to Ulhasnagar,Murbad,Titwala and Karjat.
In June 2005 a severe flood occurred in this area.
[edit] Reaching Shahad
Shahad is accessible through the central railway line. Shahad is on the Kasara Line, next to Kalyan. At Kalyan the railway line divides into two directions. One line is towards Ambernath, Badlapur, Karjat, and Pune. The other line goes to Shahad, Titwala, Asangaon, Kasara, and Nasik. Shahad comes in the Nasik route, next station from Kalyan.
