.....Shah and Anchor Kutchi Engineering College is an Engineering College in Chembur, Mumbai, India. The College has been awarded “A“ Grade by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra State. This college stands out amidst the industrious locality of Deonar. It is the only piece of architecture in that area worth giving another look.

Mahavir Education Trust was established in the year 1983 with the main purpose of promoting technical education. With the help of generous donations of two main donors viz., Shrimati Laxmiben Karamshibhai Shah Trust and Shah Lalji Velji Anchorwalal, Polytechnic under the name of Shah and Anchor Kutchhi Polytechnic was started in the year 1983. The trust was lucky to have the inauguration of the Polytechnic done at the hands of Shri Vasantdada Patil, the then, Chief Minister of Maharashtra State.

Further, it was felt that University level education was also the need of the society so within a year in 1984, Mangal Textiles Building located in the Ujagar Industrial Estate was purchased. After necessary modifications in the building Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College was started in that building in 1985.

The construction work for the Modern building for the Engineering College was started in 1994. The new building is provided with Modern state of the art Electronics, Computers, IT laboratories and the necessary sized classrooms with proper lightings, the library, mini auditorium etc as per the Central/State Government authorities (i.e. A.I.C.T.E./D.T.E.) norms.

SAKEC is not a full board college. Student life is therefore restricted to college hours most of the time, except during the time leading up to exams, when students spend longer hours studying on campus.Also students can be seen spending quality time in the new gym area honing their sports skills.

    • ISTE - Indian Society for Technical Education

The Indian Society for Technical Education is a national, professional, non-profit making Society registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. First started in 1941 as the Association of Principals of Technical Institutions (APTI), it was converted into "Indian Society for Technical Education" in 1968 with a view to enlarge its activities to advance the cause of technological education.The major objective of the ISTE is to assist and contribute in the production and development of top quality professional engineers and technicians needed by the industries and other organizations. Being the only national organization of educators in the field of Engineering and Technology, ISTE effectively contributes in various missions of the Union Government. The Ministry of Human Resource Development, AICTE/DST/MIT/State Govts. are well associated with the ISTE for programmes relating to technical education. The ISTE-SAKEC student body is the most active student body in the college, having to its credit the chance to organize various seminars and workshops to help students gain extra knowledge in the field of their interest. The students at ISTE-SAKEC live up to the motto of ASPIRE 2 INSPIRE.

SAKEC organises a college festival every year called Verve.

The library provides a wide range of books which include university prescribed text books and reference material. The library also subscribes to all major international journals and magazines. The library is open 6 days a week and on sundays when exams are approaching.

The trust has developed and is maintaining a playground, which is well equipped with a cricket ground, a football pitch and a volleyball court. An annual sports competition is held in this college, where all the classes compete in indoor and outdoor competitions.
