Shafton

The villages of Shafton (not to be mistaken for the Village Commonly know as Shifton, named after the Famous CSS player who lives there) and Shafton Two Gates make up the civil parish of Shafton, an administrative area of the metropolitan borough of Barnsley (part of South Yorkshire, England), on the border with West Yorkshire.

Shafton lies to the north of Shafton Two Gates, on the road to Ryhill. It is located at approximately 53° 35' 10" North, 1° 24' West, at an elevation of around 80 metres above sea level. Sceptun in the Domesday Book of 1086 then later in c1160 Scaftona meaning a farmstead marked by a pole, or made with poles.

Shafton lies to the north of Cudworth, on the intersection of the A628 and A615 roads. It is located at approximately , at an elevation of around 75 metres above sea level.
