Shafiur Rahman is a Language Martyr who died in a police firing on 22nd February 1952 on a mob agitating against the police action on the 21st February 1952.
Rahman was born on 24th January, 1918 in the village Kunnyogar under 24-Pargana of West Bengal, India, he migrated to Bangladesh (the then East Pakistan) in 1948. He was the son of Maulabi Mahbubur Rahman.
Shafiur Rahman was the father of a daughter and left behind his pregnant wife and a big family dependent on his income. To secure a better a future, he was studying law and to support his family and his education he was working in the accounts section of the Dhaka High Court.
