Shaarei Chesed

Shaarei Chesed is a neighborhood situated in western Jerusalem. It was established in 1909 and borders Rechavia, Nahlaot and Wolfson Towers. It lies between Ussishkin and Diskin Streets, from HaGra Street in the north to Ibn-Shaprut Street in the south.
In recent years, Shaarei Chesed has become a predominantly religious neighborhood, although old-time Jerusalemites and Mizrachi Jews continue to live there. There is also a large English-speaking population.
Shaarei Chesed is home to three yeshivot: Maalos Hatorah, Midrash Shmuel and Noam Hatalmud. The neighborhood's main synagogue is the Gra Synagogue, which located at its center.
