Shaahin Filizadeh

Dr. Shaahin Filizadeh (in Persian: شاهین فیلیزاده) is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Manitoba. He is associated with the NSERC Industrial Research Chair in Power Systems Simulation at the same institution. As an active member of the IEEE, he serves in a number of its technical task forces. He is also the Past Chair of the IEEE Power Engineering Society, Winnipeg Section (2006). He is a registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Manitoba.
He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Sharif University of Technology in 1996 and 1998, respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Manitoba in 2004.
His areas of interest include electromagnetic transient simulation, nonlinear optimization, and power electronics applications in power systems and vehicle propulsion. He has contributed significantly to the development and implementation of the optimization-enabled circuit simulation, which is now incorporated into the commercially available simulation suite, the PSCAD/EMTDC.
