[edit] Demographics

SHAPE American High School is unique in that although the majority of students are dependents of the United States Military and civilian employees, 50% are dependents of military members from other NATO nations. This occurs because of the many nations represented at SHAPE, which is a NATO military installation. During any given school year there may be more than eighteen nationalities and sixteen languages represented at SHAPE American High School. With this makeup, the students and faculty are exposed to a multicultural polyglot environment that provides them with special challenges and opportunities. As a result, its students tend to be culturally knowledgeable. Although a variety of languages can be heard throughout the corridors, American English is the primary language of instruction.

[edit] Athletics

Shape American High School has the largest number of DII Football Titles in the past 20 years. Its basketball program has had a 80% winning record the last 10 years and its extra activity organizations and clubs have always been in the top percentile of programs. While the school sports are coordinated and funded by DoDDS, opportunities are available to students in the three secondary sections, which include:

Autumn – Cross Country (running), American Football, Volleyball, Tennis, Cheerleading, and Swimming (sponsored by S.I.S.)

Winter – Basketball, Wrestling, Cheerleading, and Swimming (S.I.S.)
