Talk:SGI Octane

[edit] Architecture
The article claims that the Octane is a SMP machine, but since it also claims that it was based on the Origin 2000, this should not be the case. If the HEART ASIC is the same as the Hub ASIC used in the Origin 2000, then the two processors 'sharing' the one 'bus' should run in a multiplexed fashion like the Origin 2000. Also, I think that there are two points that need to be clarified: Xtalk, I believe, refers to the I/O subsystem architecture, not the system architecture itself. The XBOW ASIC is not the heart of the Octane, that would be the HEART ASIC. The XBOW ASIC is the same as that used in the Origin 2000, and that is just a crossbar that routes XIO packets.
