[edit] How I got here
I first heard about Wikipedia several years ago (2004?) when someone encouraged fans in one of my forums to write a TV show article for an online encyclopedia. I honestly expected the project to fail and forgot about it quickly.
I realised Wikipedia's usefulness for (initial) uni research during 2005, and I made my first typo-fix edits as an unregistered user some time in 2006. After reading about Wikipedia in The Long Tail in December 2006, I was tempted to donate some money to the Wikipedia Foundation. In the end, I decided that I'd rather pay with my time.
[edit] My Wiki mission
My edit behavior is strongly inspired by the Kingdom Hearts Featured Topic, whose editors merge(d) articles that cannot become a Good Article, to help other articles achieve that status and to obviate fancruft. Besides keeping an eye on a few fiction-related articles, I like fixing disambiguation and surname pages, as well as reading up on and participating in administrative wiki discussions.
/Dab (RC • CAT • LtdP) — an incomplete list of disambiguation/surname pages that I cleaned up
WP:SU (RC) — finished all surname pages
A Dog's Breakfast — build to GA once the DVD is released
Pride and Prejudice (1995 TV serial) — build to GA/FA
/Carnivàle (T) — Carnivàle • Episodes • Characters (BH • BJC) • Mythology
/Stargate (T • WPSG • CAT • wikia)
-
/Sandbox • Prefix — just stuff
[edit] Last but not least... about me
Most of my real-life hobbies follow no specific rules, and my tastes are quite eclectic (although they appear to be quite lame and not very varied at the moment). The last film I bought on DVD is Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, which is also the last (new) film I watched. The BBC's Pride and Prejudice is the last TV series that I bought on DVD, and it is simply impossible to keep track of my erratic TV-on-DVD viewing habits. Coldplay's Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends is the last CD I purchased. The last video game I bought is The Sims 2: Seasons, while The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is the last game that I finished playing. As for my non-electronic-media pastimes, Helen Fielding's Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason is the last book I bought, although the last book that I actually finished reading is Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. The last square dance level I learned is A2, with the most recent dance event (for me) in Berlin. Although it is not very likely that I'll edit any of the linked articles (much), I have read most of them.
