SFX (software)

SFX is an OpenURL link server from Ex Libris, Ltd. Herbert van de Sompel, a librarian at the University of Ghent and Oren Beit-Arie of Ex Libris developed the OpenURL framework between 1998-2000 [1], which was then packaged and marketed to libraries and other relevant institutions.[2] Ex Libris continues to develop the software and add enhancements recommended by their customers.[3] SFX is the most widely-known OpenURL link server within the library and scholarly publishing community, and occasionally the product name has been used as a generic term for OpenURL link servers.
