[edit] Image:Mayor-miller.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Mayor-miller.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Chowbok ☠ 02:57, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

- Hi, thanks for your vote to keep on the article on their children, but they have put this one (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Parents of the Prime Ministers of Canada) on AfD as well. -- Earl Andrew - talk 19:11, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Lengths of PMs time in office
I'm not sure whether or not we are counting the days the same way. The way I see it, Feb. 6, 2006 was his 1st day in office, Feb. 5, 2007 was his 365th day, and Feb. 6, 2007 was his 366, which translates to 1 year and 1 day. You had 367 days translating to 1 year and 1 day, so I was wondering if that was a typo or whether we are adding up these numbers differently. --Arctic Gnome (talk • contribs) 02:05, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- I think we might be adding them up differently. Feb 5, 2007 was his 365th day in office, but that is still not a complete year. There are 365 days in a year, but when it his 366 days, then it is a complate year, starting a new year. Feb 6, 2007 was Harper's one year in office, Feb 7 was Harper's 1 year and one day. SFrank85 23:32, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
- So for the incumbency in days you are including the current day and for the calendar length you are only including completed days. While there is a certain logic to that, I think it's looks weird to see "367 day = 1 year + 1 day" when that mathematically doesn't make sense. IMHO both numbers should use the same system, and since the other PM's times include the last day for both, Harper's should too. If we want to not include the last day, than both numbers should not include it and all the other PMs numbers should be changed as well. --Arctic Gnome (talk • contribs) 04:16, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
In fact, it looks like government references do not include the last day. I'll change the other PM's to match the shorter version you use. But I stand by my point that the two columns should use the same system to prevent mathematical inaccuracies. --Arctic Gnome (talk • contribs) 04:53, 8 February 2007 (UTC)I have now standardized all of the calculations based on the Library of Parliament's website. By that standard, the last day of a term is not counted. If you want, we can make the incumbents current day count, meaning we'd add one day to Harper. How it is now, the incumbency in days column works the same way that the calendar incumbency column works. The measurement in days is not the XXth day in office, but the total number of days. --Arctic Gnome (talk • contribs) 06:01, 8 February 2007 (UTC)- Sorry to be leaving so much junk on your page, but I've gone back and forth with the way the numbers are calculated because of some contradictory information on the government's website. It seems that you and I have spent more time making our list right than they have :). I have clarified my method of calculation on the bottom of the page. For example, here is Harper's calculation up to and including today, with the length in days the same as the calendar length: [1]. --Arctic Gnome (talk • contribs) 06:33, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- I still think the days for Harper is wrong (not total days). There are 365 days in one year. Once you hit 365 days in a year, it is now a new year, but the last day of the first year. February 6 is Harper's first year, but according to this, his first year anniversary was on February 5, which is wrong. SFrank85 15:08, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- His anniversary is on the 6th, sure. However, the list counts both the first and the last days as full days (except for the day when power is transfered at the end of terms). You are trying to include the last day in the total days column and not include the last day in the other column; and it's confusing to have the columns not use the same system. When we include all of Feb. 6 '06 and all of Feb. 5 '07; as of and including Feb. 5th he had been in power for 365 full days: 1 year. Including all of Feb. 6 '07, he has been in power for 366 full days: 1 year and 1 day. This is how the calculator that I used to add up these numbers works [2]; you can tell it to not count the last day, but when you do that it takes off the last day from both the length by days and by years. To list it your way, with the days and calendar columns not adding up, we would have to specify that the 367th day equates to 1 year and 1 day. --Arctic Gnome (talk • contribs) 15:50, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Trailer Park Boys
I thought it very odd to see Trailer Park Boys listed as a favourite show, knowing the Salvation Army's stance on alcohol, drugs, profanity and otherwise immoral activities, as they define them. I was a Salvationist from birth until I left in 1998. Not that I wish to judge, but I can't watch that show, mostly due to the constant profanity that grates. What do you find attractive about the show?--WPaulB 18:12, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter Dear SFrank85! You are receiving this newsletter because you have signed up as a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey. The purpose of this newsletter is to update on the goings on of the project, as there have been major changes, and a lot of new recognized content in the past few weeks. If you are an inactive user, you probably won't recognize the new and improved state of the WikiProject! From the project, Maxim. edit

Article Improvement By Maxim Upon some discussion on the WikiProject talk page, the Article Improvement Drive page was revamped by Krm500 and Maxim. It was renamed Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey/Article Improvement, and it includes two section. The first section is called articles in dire need of improvement. It list articles, usually important, that are in very poor shape. The second section is called requested help. Users list an article they request help improving a certain article, which will facilitate collaboration, which is the aim of any WikiProject. There is one article currently listed there, Henrik Lundqvist, here. The goal is to at least get it to Good article status. edit
Diacritics By Maxim In the past few weeks, there has been quite heated discussion about the use of diacritics in article name. The current guideline is using diacritics in the pages of articles of all player names which require them, but redirects are exempt. edit
Task forces By Maxim This task force was initiated by Krm500. Its current goal is to improve Henrik Lundqvist to Good or Featured article status. It covers all Swedish clubs, leagues and competitions and associated articles, players and coaches that are Swedish, or have played/coached for a Swedish club, and arenas in Sweden. They plan to eventually operate as a sort of a sub-project, which will have its own articles for creation, ranking importance and quality of articles, and co-ordinate article improvement. Its current members are Krm500, Bamsefar75, and CLAES. This task force was initiated by Bsroiaadn. Its goal is to improve New Jersey Devils to Featured Topic status. Although it currently meets the required article count, the task force wishes to improve it further. Its area of coverage is very similar to the Sweden Ice Hockey task force. Its members are Bsroiaadn, JHMM13, FutureNJGov, Sportskido8, Michael Greiner, JRWalko, and Soxrock. edit

Did You Know? By Maxim
...that Wally Tatomir, head equipment manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, holds four patents on ice hockey-related equipment?
...that ice hockey player Mark Major attained 355 penalty minutes during the 1997-98 AHL season for the Portland Pirates, where he averaged 4.5 penalty minutes a game and still holds the club record?
...that Garth Butcher was a member of Canada's first-ever gold medal team at the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships before becoming a pest and setting team records for penalty minutes in the National Hockey League?

Featured Topic Drive By Maxim Started by User:Scorpion0422, the aim of this drive is to make NHL awards a featured topic. A featured topic is basically a set of very high quality articles (good articles and featured articles/lists). In this case, the topic is NHL awards. Many users have helped, including Scorpion0422, Resolute, Serte, Hasek is the best, Maxim, Croat Canuck, Spike Wilbury, FutureNJGov, and T Rex/Dinosaur puppy. The progress has been very good; there are 12 featured lists promoted, and 2 good articles:
Check the project page if you are interested in helping out. Although it's closer to being done than not, there's still work to be done. The next topic that might be tackled is Stanley Cup, but this remains purely speculative and in discussion. |

Welcome to the inaugural edition of the WikiProject Professional wrestling newsletter! I hope this will be a good source of news to those people interested in what's happening around our pro wrestlimg community. I plan to release it every Sunday. This newsletter will just be a way to get the community announcements to people who don't have the time to check the mesageboards, as well that to those just curious about the news. The newsleter will consist of a project news section (to do with what's happening on Wikipedia), and a current events section (relating to news in the "real world"). The newslette will also contain the Collaboration of the Week announcement. That's all. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please post them at this talk page. [edit] Image:St Mark's CopticChurch--TO.jpg
Hello, there.
I just wanted to know if you're able to take a picture of St. Mark's Coptic Orthodox Church in Toronto. You can find out the street address online (the links to those websites are on the image pages). The current images are, unfortunately, copyrighted, as I was the one who uploaded them.
The current (copyrighted) images may get deleted, so if they do, then I'll need to replace them.
I need you or somebody else to take a picture, release its copyright, and upload it onto Wikipedia. I HAVE contacted others to notify them also, so if there are more than one pictures, that's OK (I can still make an article on them). I want these images to be used for, specifically, the article "Coptic Orthodox Church in Canada". The image page is, again:

Welcome to the second issue of the WP:PW newsletter. We apologize for the delay. There was an issue regarding the delivery process. Anyways, we had a lot of good feedback for the last newsletter. We not only received feedback at the newsletter's talk page, but I also received some messages on my talk page as well. Thank you to those who responded. The only complaint we received was about typos, and we will try our best to keep the newsletter error-free. Please continue to offer feedback and new ideas for the next issue. WikiProject Ice Hockey Newsletter Dear SFrank85! You are receiving as you are a member of WikiProject Ice Hockey There's been many more new things going on at WP:HOCKEY, and I think this will help you to stay informed. Since the last newsletter sent out in October, there have been many new changes. I'm hoping to make this newsletter a bit more regular; Kaiser matias and Skudrafan1 asked for a new issue a week ago, but sadly, I've been a bit lazy and committed to other things hence this other delay. --Maxim(talk) edit

Task forces By Maxim There was a new taskforce created within the WikiProject to deal with topics related to the Boston Bruins. It was originally founded as a separate WikiProject, but was quickly turned into a taskforce within WikiProject Ice Hockey. The list of participants is located here. Located at WP:BRUINS, the taskforce's goals are to make Boston Bruins and Bobby Orr featured articles. Good luck! edit

A previously admin-only feature has been made available for all users. The rollback feature allows a user to quickly revert vandalism with one click. If you wish to have rollback, contact an active admin or post a request to WP:RFR. edit
Featured Topic Drive By Maxim The original featured topic drive, initiated by Scorpion0422, has concluded succesfully. National Hockey League awards is now a featured topic, with 24 articles in total. Of them, 20 are featured lists, one is a featured article, and the other three are trophy articles that were too short to become featured lists. Eight users signed up to help out, shown here. The next Featured Topic hasn't been decided upon, and the ideas and organization for it fell apart. If you have any ideas, don't hesitate to share them at WT:HOCKEY. edit
