Mr. Sfoskett

I have no idea what I'm doing here. I wanted to contact you regarding your contributions & sources on the F150 page, but can't seem to find an e-mail for you in any of these pages. Forgive me for touching your page, but could you possibly e-mail me so that we may speak? Thank you, rfletcher@truckairbedz.com

[edit] D2C Page Edit

Just informing you that I revised the D2C page to correctly indicate that platforms commonality with DEW98 according to statements made by Mustang Design Program Chief Engineer Hau Thai Tang in an interview with Motor Trend. For a direct quote of what Mr. Tang said

...........Thai-Tang adds that "at the component level, there's about 35-percent reusability from other Ford products. But in terms of pure DEW98 carryover, there's not a lot; the front chassis rail architecture, floorpans, trans tunnel, saddle-style fuel tanks are similar. The rest is new.".........

While Mr. Tang states that this is not a lot of commonality overall, the above, along with the unique roof structure the S197 would have to employ, constitutes the majority of the actual platform. This, along with the fact that D2C must have began with DEW98 as a basis for the above to have occured, makes it impossible for D2C to have been sourced from C1. Also keep in mind that Mr. Tang is stricly discussing parts carried over virtually intact in this statement.

Other components which had to be DEW98 based due to the use of DEW98 engineering hardpoints, like the firewall, but were so heavily modified that they possess little resemblence to their equivelant DEW98 components, and which Mr. Tang was not addressing, are still DEW98 based regardless. And since we know that D2C began on DEW98, we also know that it must share engineering hardpoints with DEW98. Amnd as you likely know these have been employed as a measure to demonstrate platform lineage for decades.

Thanks;

J. Saylor

[edit] Wikiproject Automobiles Notification

Hi Sfoskett, you were on the list of members at WikiProject Automobiles and we are introducing a new way of listing members, as the old list was becoming too long. Our new method involves having all of our members in a category.

To add yourself to the category just add the userbox to your user page by putting {{Wiki Auto Project}} where you want the userbox. Alternatively if you don't like the userbox you can add [[Category:WikiProject Automobiles members|Sfoskett]] to your userpage.

If you no longer wish to be a member of the project, simply don't add the userbox or category, there's no pressure. Thanks for your time, James086Talk | Contribs 04:26, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] '1965' Studebaker convertible is actually a '64 -- Caption changed

Please be aware that I have changed the caption in the Studebaker Lark article of the '1965' convertible. Since there were no 1965 convertibles, this would be a 1964. -- Thanks. TeemPlayer 10:36, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Lincoln Continental Mark III misidentified

Hi, you added a picture of what you thought was a black 1969 Mark III to the 1968.5-1969 section of the Lincoln Continental Mark III article. The car in the picture is actually a 1970 Mark III with 1969 wheel covers. I am sure the incorrect wheel covers lead to your confusion, but the front parking light lenses and the interior seat pattern clearly identifies the vehicle as a 1970 model. 76spirit 19:06, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Mazda Wankel sales.JPG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. [edit] honda template

I was surfing around Wikipedia and I just wanted to say how impressed I was with Template:Modern Honda vehicles. I'm far from a car fanatic but the template is really easy to understand and interact with, kudos. Vicarious 09:31, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Converters

Hi , i saw you have made these AUTO PS etc convert templates, just wondering if you could do also bhp to kW / PS converters. We had small discussion here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Alfa_Romeo_Giulietta --Typ932 14:09, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Queen Mary & sub: photo

Because of the low light, your Wikicommons photo of the Queen Mary alongside the B-427 doesn't allow the sub to be seen clearly, especially in the thumbnail preview. I took a daytime photo from almost exactly the same vantage point. What do you think... dodge the original in PS, or replace it? — VoxLuna T / C  01:01, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Chevrolet TrailBlazer.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Chevrolet TrailBlazer.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:41, 26 April 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Liftarn 15:41, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Morris Major

I enjoyed the Austin Kimberley article that I see you kicked off. Thank you. I was wondering (purely out of my own personal interest) whether you might have time and information available to do something similar for the Australian built Morris Major from a decade or so earlier. I remember it turned up in a 1960s version of 'The Observers' Book of Cars' (a pocket sized compendium for infant car nuts produced annually here in England at that time) but my son has borrowed my copy.... Thanks for giving it thought. At least. Charles01 06:33, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wrong width on Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Hello. You originally contributed a width of 84.2 inches wide for the Jeep Grand Cherokee WK article, but that seems to be wrong. See the discussion on the page's talk section. The correct width would seem to be 74.2 inches. Perhaps you could double-check your source on this. 207.69.139.145 06:37, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mazda T platform

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Mazda T platform, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] BMW M10

Hi Sfoskett. I see that (over a year ago now!) you added the "Models" table to the BMW M10 page. Are you able to explain it to me? I don't understand why there are 4 rows labelled "M10B18" and two rows labelled "M10B18V". Thanks. DH85868993 13:04, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Global_Hybrid_Cooperation_transmission_cutaway.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Global_Hybrid_Cooperation_transmission_cutaway.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 12:27, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Enterprise storage

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Enterprise storage, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. [edit] Redirect of GM S platform

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on GM S platform, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because GM S platform is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting GM S platform, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. [edit] Laura Ashé

A tag has been placed on Laura Ashé, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Brewcrewer 08:17, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] ft•lbf vs. lb•ft

Greetings, Sfoskett. I've always perceived a problem with Template:Auto ft.lbf, for it generates a unit notation that is not only incorrect for the application, but also not appropriately formatted. If you'll take a quick look at Foot-pound force, you'll see that ft•lbf is the formal notation for the unit of energy, while lb•ft is used to denote torque. In practice, lb•ft and ft•lb are used interchangeably to denote torque — though many physics professors over the years taught me that lb•ft is to be preferred — but ft•lbf is not used to denote the torque output of an engine or motor except on Wikipedia, as it seems. What would be the correct procedure to initiate a discussion proposing that the unit label produced by this widely-used template be corrected? Thanks. --Scheinwerfermann (talk) 17:29, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Interesting. I posted the paragraph above ↑ with minor modifications to all the discussion areas I could think of, and got exactly zero response, so I went ahead and changed the template. Touch wood, so far so good. Perhaps the loud ones who forced ft•lbf on us have moved on to bigger and better things. Enjoy the beach. --Scheinwerfermann (talk) 03:08, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
