I noticed you have edited some of the articles relating to the 1989 invasion of panama. Since your editing seems fair and you seem quite knowledgeable about US miliray history (I guess your username says this) I was wondering if you could convert the sentence (which I think I originally put in)
- "The Panamanian Defense Force was overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the U.S. forces."
into something a little more informative in military terms. The reasons may be obvious: better training, better equipment, superior numbers, better discipline, but sometimes the obvious isn't accurate.
You'll note that I have consistently tried to focus the article so that no one point of view predominates. Therefore, if there is a panamanian point of view that might also be relevant to expand the above sentence (for example, that the american military could operate with very short supply lines, if indeed this is meaningful in this instance), these could be also mentioned.
Thanks. --CSTAR 23:21, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
There are many reasons why the PDF were overwhelmed. Most notably because the US was putting down the final resistance of those still loyal to Noriega. The PDF had unsuccessfully tried a coupe in October of 89, so most troops and officers were glad to see the US. There were of course a few hold outs, but it's not like the US took down the whole Panamanian military. --SFjarhead 22:01, 8 August 2005 (UTC)
