In the female cat, the genitalia include:

  • Two gonads
  • Uterus
  • Vagina
  • Genital passages
  • Teats

[edit] Gonads

The gonads are cat ovaries in the abdomen[1]. They perform oogenesis and release sex hormones. They are located quite far forward, near the kidneys[1].

[edit] Uterus

The uterus of a cat includes two long, nearly straight horns[1].

[edit] Vagina

Together with the vulva, the vagina of cat is involved in mating and provides a channel for newborns during parturition, or birth. The vagina is long and wide[1].

[edit] Genital passages

Genital passages are the oviducts of the cat. They are short, narrow, and not very sinuous[1].

[edit] Teats

The mammary glands in cats are also called teats. There are eight of them, one pectoral pair, two abdominal pairs, and one inguinal pair[1].
