Severus is Latin cognomen, most often used for Septimius Severus, Alexander Severus and other members of the Severan dynasty.
Severus can also refer to:
- Sextus Iulius Severus, a second century Roman general
- Flavius Valerius Severus, a fourth century Roman emperor
- Severus Ibn al-Muqaffa (d. 987), Egyptian bishop and historian
- Severus Snape, a character in the popular Harry Potter series of books
