Severstal North America
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Severstal North America is a subsidiary of the Russian Severstal Group which operates an integrated steel mill located at the Rouge Complex in Dearborn, Michigan. Severstal purchased the facilities from bankrupt Rouge Steel in 2004 and employs approximately 2000 workers there today producing primarily high-quality flat rolled automotive-grade steel.
Main facilities at the mill include 2 blast furnaces, BOF vessels, 2 continuous casters, a hot-strip mill, a tandem cold mill and galvanizing lines. Total production capacity is 3 million tonnes per year.
Severstal N.A. Also helps fuel the economy by sending work out to other smaller companies in the Detroit area. Some of those companies are Caine Steel of Michigan, New Technologies, and Contenental Steel. These are companies that help distribute Steel through out the region.
