[edit] Service
Currently, a train operates roughly every 90 minutes weekday peaks and evenings. At other times, an hourly bus service operates, which accepts rail tickets, and connects with trains at Avonmouth. On Saturdays, an hourly train service operates. Severn Beach is presently closed on Sundays and there are no services on the line.
From Sunday 18 May 2008 an improved service will be offered on the line[2]. Trains will start earlier in the morning and finish later in the evening, with three trains in every 2-hour cycle during the daytime. This will increase turnaround time, so the timetable should be more reliable.
This will have the unfortunate side-effect of daytime services to/from Severn Beach being reduced overall, with only one train every two hours Mondays to Fridays, as opposed to the current service provided by a bus every hour connecting with every train. The bus continues to run on Saturdays and alternates with the train to provide an hourly service overall. There will be no Sunday service from Severn Beach, although trains will run from Avonmouth onwards until September.
