Seven Servants

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Seven Servants is perhaps a most original, and unique film ever made by Daryush Shokof in Germany in 1996. It is about a man (played by Anthony Quinn) who wants to unite the races until his last breath. an old man ARCHIE (played brilliantly by Anthony Quinn doing arguably the best work of his life)hires servants to get connected to him by plugging up his body openings. the picture of the first servant fillnig up Archie,s ear is perhaps one of the most memorable, unique and powerful scenes in all cinema history.thereafter connected servants will move togethr remaining in such an amazing connected configuration for the rest of the movie. they dance, walk, eat, and even beat up some thieves while staying put and connected to Archie and hence creating some of the most incredible visuals ever filmed for the screen. the comedy, and ironic moments and situations are supposed to undermine the deep philosophical thoughts of the story which is written by Shokof and his long time associate Juliane Schulze. Shokof has mentioned that the story has direct connection to his own manifest of YEKISHIM where he sees the ONLY reason for mankind to be on planet earth is to become United. he continues that the whole story came to him in a repeated dream (he has mentioned at all his press conferences for the film that he saw the same dream 3 times and repeatedly that same night in Colgone)while staying at a house in Cologne, Germany in 1995. the visuals of the dream had stunned him to a point that he started drawing the connected figures in the dream, and then was suggested by the drawing to make them three dimensional, and so came the birth of the Moving Pictures of such an amazing story in a film form which has created one of the rarest movies ever made. the story remains original in all forms of creativity achieved by mankind from writing, to painting, and or in cinema history.

LINK TO YEKISHIM

Shokof follows many of his own manifestation of Yekishim (the word Yekishim is a combination of two words in Persian ,YEK, meaning one, and SHIM, meaning to become.these two words are put together by shokof to create a new word YEKISHIM as a central idea for his manifest of maximalism for the goal of unity of mankind) in making the story stick. the visuals are so rare and unique that make Seven Servants to be a monumental artistic piece of filmmaking in the cinema history. Seven Servants has been mentioned amongst top ten list in some of the most interesting film rankings in the world of Cinema. the film was nominated for the golden leopard at Locarno film festival.more critics can be read about this amazing work in the IMDB reports, and under Seven Servants.
