Seura

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article is about the Finnish magazine. For the American technology company, see Séura.

Seura is a Finnish weekly magazine published by Yhtyneet Kuvalehdet. Its first issue was published in 1935. A sample issue came out already in the previous year. Another weekly family magazine, similar to Seura, is Apu.

Seura has lost its market share to magazines that concentrate on celebrity gossip. Jari Lindholm was appointed as editor-in-chief in September 2004 to regain market share.

On April 15th 2005 Seura printed story about current Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen's and Minister of Culture Tanja Karpela's common night in hotel room about six years ago. The story was based on anonymous source. It was dismissed as "slimy gossip".

Editor-in-chief Jari Lindholm resigned April 14th 2006 after failing to improve circulation. The current editor-in-chief is Pekka Numminen.
