According to the Encyclopedia of New York City, Seth Low's father was Abiel Abbot Low of Salem, Massachusetts. He moved to Brooklyn in 1829 with his father - the Grandfather you refer to - but the Grandfather did not achieve any such fame.SSG Cornelius Seon (Retired) 03:34, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Last Mayor of Brooklyn

An earlier version of this article made claim that Seth Low was the last mayor of the city of Brooklyn. He was not. The honor, in a manner of speaking, goes to Fredrick W. Wurster, whose term ran from January 02,1896 to December 31, 1898. Low held the post for two terms, from 1881 to 1885, well before the consolodation of the City of Brooklyn into Greater New York.
