Talk:SETI paradox

It seems all the mentions of this "paradox" on the internet are either this article, or copies of this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AtikuX (talk • contribs) 10:02, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Notability?
This is hardly a "paradox", as evidenced by the trivial counter-arguments in the article (which are original research, by the way). Has any astronomer or philosopher even heard of this, or given it a second thought?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the mere fact that we have radio and television stations already imply that we're transmitting signals into space, whether we want to or not? And isn't this what we're looking for from other solar systems? So where's the paradox?
The "corollaries" derived from the "paradox" seem especially perplexing. If we receive a signal from a distant world, why would it be "prudent" to keep silent? Wouldn't sending a signal back be the first thing we would do? Dmitry Brant (talk) 17:15, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
