[edit] Academics
The school was formed by the merging of the two Catholic schools, Archbishop Keough and Seton High School. The school has a full high school curriculum, including AP classes in Biology, English, History, and Calculus. Regular and honor level classes are available at all levels. A 7-day schedule allows the school to include clubs as part of the school day. This feature allows all students, even those with after school jobs or transportation challenges to participate in at least one club.
The school's philosophy, as set forth by former principal Curtis Turner, is: God, Family, Academics and then everything else. By keeping students' priorities clear, the school has reached 100% acceptance of students into college. 10% of the student body lives below the poverty line and 40% receive tuition assistance. The school is an inclusive mixture of many socio-economic levels and strives to teach lessons of social justice.
[edit] Athletics
Its mascot is the Gator (named Allie Gator). Their main rival is Mount de Sales Academy, another Catholic all girls school in the area. The school colors are "forest green and grey". Grey comes from Seton High School; Green from Archbishop Keough. These colors are reflected in the uniform.
[edit] Arts
The theater department became active again in 2002 with their version of the play "Anything Goes". It has grown in strength every year. Now with a parenting organization behind it, the theatre department puts on two plays a year and a talent show. The auditorium has upgraded sound equipment. Musicals are performed with live music. The pit band is formed from Seton Keough and Cardinal Gibbons high school band students. The 2007 musical was "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat".
[edit] Traditions
There is a class wide contest at Seton Keough called "Year Day". A theme for the event is chosen (such as Disney movies, board games etc) and each class must decorate a hallway, write a song, perform a dance and a skit in respect to the theme and a board of teachers judges them and picks a winner. Also in the contest, there are other games such as pie eating contests and tug of war.
Girls in their junior year receive a school ring, a long-standing tradition deriving from Seton High and Archbishop Keough.
[edit] Uniform
There is a spring uniform and a winter uniform. The spring uniform is a pale green kilt worn with a white polo shirt and white socks. The winter uniform is a forest green plaid kilt worn with a white polo shirt, a forest green sweater, green tights or blue knee socks. On mass days, the formal uniform must be worn. Other days, the girls can wear their Seton Keough cardigan or sweater with their uniform. The upperclassmen are required to purchase a forest green blazer for special occasions. Recently the first floor lockers got painted from a shade of pink to green. The second and third floors will be painted soon.
