[edit] Christian Views of Women part deux
Hi Serpentdreams,
I, also, don't have a problem with the article representing negative views, especially if they quote contentious Bible quotes. What I do have a problem with is misrepresentation of those passages. The issue is to do with Biblical context, which is being badly abused in this article. For instance, if I read a novel I don't just take a sentence from the book to understand what it's saying. I read the chapter, and even then I need to have read the rest of the book. It's the same with the Bible. The issue with the article is that the person who found the Biblical verses has just gone through the Bible and looked for all the really "bad" verses - and all out of context. The best example was the verse from the Song of Deborah - the OT verse was meant to be about Christian views of women (never mind the Israelites weren't Christians as Jesus hadn't yet appeared on the scene as yet...) yet the passage is clearly talking about the Canaanites - the side opposing the Israelites (the "Christians" of the day).
So I'm objecting because this is someone's biased POV, and it's factually incorrect. It basically misrepresents the Bible.
Anyway, these are my objections.
