That they were built "supposedly" by ancestors of modern Slavs belongs to nationalist mythology, as there were no proto-Slavs in the area in 2nd cent. BC and for several centuries to come. --Ghirla | talk 16:36, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

Actually, it is not clear, where and who were these Proto-Slavs. Your categorical statement "there was no..." is absolutely false. Vervin 21:39, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
I added a {{fact}} after that affirmation. Back then, the area was inhabited by the Scythians, Sarmatians and other Iranian tribes. (see this map) The ancestors of the Slavs were further to the west, in what is now Poland and probably reached the area in 5th or 6th century AD. bogdan 09:21, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
