Talk:Seri
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I would be very interested in knowing what the evidence is that the name "Seri" comes from Opata. Claims that it is from this or that language have been impossible to verify in the past. Probably it does come from some Utoaztecan language, but I personally have never seen the data to support claims in the past.
- The Oxford English Dictionary claims that the name comes from Opata, but I don't know what evidence they based that choice on. They don't even give the Opata source, instead giving the Papago cognate. --Ptcamn 17:50, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
