[edit] Moldovan citizenship

Mauco just removed the Moldovan citizenship of Covalciuc from the article. Covalciuc is a regular in the Moldova national football team, as is confirmed by the website of the Football Association of Moldova. According to FIFA regulations, Covalciuc has to hold Moldovan citizenship in order to be eligible for the national squad. Aecis Appleknocker Flophouse 21:20, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for giving the source, Aecis. I was not aware of this point. In interviews in Russia, Covalciuc always holds himself out as a Russian, and I have no knowledge of him ever having mentioned that he also had the Moldovan citizenship. But in light of the rules it makes sense and it would be safe to assume that he has it, even if in fact he never mentions it. - Mauco 22:57, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
He was a Moldovan citizen, but Russian nationality law does not allow dual nationality. Matthew_hk tc 09:35, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
