Servy

Servy (Ukrainian Серви, sometimes Serby, Servurya), ethnic group of Romani people. Sometimes they are referred as Left-bank (of Dnipro) Tsyhany (Лівобережні цигани). They live in Eastern, Southern and Central Ukraine. Servy migrated in Ukraine from Balkans. Most numerous group of Ukrainian Roma.
Servy Roma language belong to Ukrainian Group of Roma languages classified by L.N.Cherenkov.
Servy are Orthodox Christians, but many traditional pagan practices can exist.
Servy were named by Ukrainians by assumed country of origin, Serbia. Original word serby was transformed in servy.
