Serphin Maltese

Serphin R. Maltese (Born: Corona neighborhood of Queens, New York City on December 7, 1932) is a Republican New York State Senator representing New York's 15th State Senate District, located in southern and central Queens.
Maltese was first elected to the New York State Senate in November of 1988. He was reelected in 2004 to his ninth term on the Republican, Conservative and Independence Party lines without opposition despite representing a strongly Democratic district. In 2006, he was nearly defeated, narrowly winning against Albert Baldeo, a relatively unknown Democrat, 51%-49% (a 783 vote margin).
