Sergio González Soriano "Sergio" (born November 10, 1976 in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Catalonia, Spain) is a Spanish football player, currently with La Liga's Deportivo de La Coruña. He is a hard-working central midfielder adept at both defence and playmaking.
Barcelona-born Sergio played four seasons in the Primera División as an Espanyol player, with a total of 110 matches. Looking for greater challenges, he accepted a move to Deportivo in the summer of 2001.
In Sergio's first three seasons in Galicia, he amassed 112 league appearances, missing just two matches, while also netting ten times.
Sergio was first called to the Spanish national team in March 2001, for a 2002 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein and a friendly with France. He was part of the nation's final stages squad, mainly used as a substitute.
