Sergio D. Acosta (born January 31, 1981) is an award winning Chicano filmmaker. Acosta is best known for his role as associate producer on the "Director's Cut" of the 2003 Cannes Film Festival Market Release Runaways, starring Austin O'Brien.

Runaways premiered to great reviews from the BBC and CBS Radio. The film went on to win top honors at the Hollywood FirstGlance Film Festival and the Indie Gathering Film Festival. Acosta also co-produced on the 2007 Cannes Film Festival Market Release Exploring Love. You can see Acosta acting in nearly all of his films. Although a producer, Acosta enjoys acting as well.

Acosta was born in San Jose, California but was raised in Kansas City, Missouri where he resides.

Acosta is in post-production on a project that he wrote, produced, and directed with fellow filmmaker Chad Arganbright, titled Wheeler's War a documentary about organized crime in Kansas City during the 1970s. He also signed on as a co-producer on Brent Bambic's next feature film, Beelzebub.
